Reports on the planned arraignment of Godwin Emefiele, suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on a 20-count charge, permeate the front pages today.

The Punch reports that the federal government will on Thursday arraign Emefiele and his associates over alleged N6.9 billion procurement fraud at the federal capital territory high court, Maitama, Abuja. The newspaper says the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) might go after currency speculators over the depreciation of the naira.

The Nation reports that President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that there will be no increase in the price of petrol per litre. The newspaper says the high cost of food items and transportation has pushed the country’s inflation rate to 24.08 percent.

The Guardian reports that there are concerns about the federal government’s ability to sustain the deregulation policy, owing to the high inflation rate. The newspaper says Nigerians may have to wait longer for Tinubu to inaugurate his cabinet.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the federal government has dissolved the Advertising Standards Panel for approving billboards with the inscription ‘All Eyes on The Judiciary’, targeted at the presidential election petition tribunal.

Daily Sun reports that the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has asked Tinubu and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to remove sanctions imposed on Niger Republic over the coup.
