Gunmen have killed Chris Ohizu, sole administrator of Ideato-North LGA in Imo state.
TheCable had reported that gunmen abducted Ohizu alongside two other residents on Friday.
The attackers also set Ohizu’s residence and vehicles ablaze.
TheCable understands that the family of the late LGA boss paid ransom to the gunmen to secure his release.
It was gathered that videos showing the butchered head of the LGA boss appeared on social media in the early hours of Monday.
In one of the videos, the gunmen threatened to also attack Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, and other residents of the state.
Recently, Imo has witnessed a spate of violent attacks perpetrated by gunmen.
The incident is coming some days after an about-to-wed couple was killed in Arondizogu, Ideato-north LGA.
When TheCable reached out to Henry Okoye, Imo police spokesperson, he said the police command would soon release a statement conveying its position on the incident.
