The controversial comment of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Atiku has come under criticism for asking northerners to vote for him in 2023 because he hails from the region. The newspaper says the country’s national grid has collapsed 98 times under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
