Reports on the planned nationwide protest of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in solidarity with the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the camp of Ademola Adeleke, Osun governor-elect, is worried over a suit filed by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The newspaper says traders and buyers are bemoaning the inflation of prices of food items.


Daily Independent reports that regulatory hurdles have stalled the commencement of operation of the new national carrier. The newspaper says Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, is angry with Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), over the snub in the selection of running mate.

The newspaper says the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised Christians not to vote for any presidential candidate with links to hard drugs, Boko Haram or any violent religious groups.


The Guardian reports that northern youths have backed the decision of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to hold nationwide protest owing to ASUU strike. The newspaper says Nigeria is on the alert over the detection of Marburg virus in Ghana.
