The leadership crisis in the Labour Party (LP), preparations for the May 29 inauguration, and the race for leadership positions in the 10th national assembly dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that aggrieved lawmakers-elect in the All Progressives Congress (APC) may sponsor candidates against the party’s preferred candidates. The newspaper says President Muhammadu Buhari has moved out of his official residence at the presidential villa to a temporary structure ahead of the May 29 inauguration.

The Nation reports that confusion has trailed an alleged application for study leave sent to President Buhari by Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The newspaper says the leadership crisis rocking the LP has deepened as the court has affirmed the suspension of Julius Abure, the national chairman of the party.
