Reports on the Adamawa governorship election and the leadership crisis in the Labour Party (LP) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, has been declared winner of the state governorship election. The newspaper says the national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is waiting for the decision of Bola Tinubu, president-elect, and Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, before taking a stand on the leadership of the 10th national assembly.

The Nation says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has written to Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, over the arrest and possible prosecution of Hudu Yunusa-Ari, resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Adamawa. The newspaper reports that the LP NWC has sacked Lamidi Apapa, the acting national chairman of the party.

The Guardian says all eyes are on the judiciary over the petitions arising from the February 25 presidential election. The newspaper says a court has voided the Lagos state parks and garages and reinstated operations of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state.

Daily Independent says the federal high court in Abuja has refused to hear an ex-parte motion filed by Aisha Binani Dahiru, APC governorship candidate in Adamawa, in respect of the state governorship supplementary election. The newspaper reports that gunmen have kidnapped Okey Wali, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Daily Trust reports that Muhammadu Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has asked Muslims to look for the Shawwal crescent tomorrow. The newspaper says a POS operator simply identified as Alfa Rafiu has been arrested in Kwara state for allegedly squandering N280m mistakenly sent to his account.
