Reports on the March 11 governorship and state assemblies elections dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the results of the presidential election have put pressure on some state governors ahead of the March 11 governorship elections. The newspaper says banks are waiting for instructions on the recirculation of old naira notes after the judgement of the supreme court.

The Nation reports that political stakeholders are currently mobilising their supporters and canvassing for votes ahead of governorship and state assemblies elections. The newspaper says the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has scored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) high on the conduct of the February 25 presidential election.

Daily Trust’s cover story focuses on the reasons why the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost the presidential elections in Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, and Cross River states. The newspaper says INEC has assured Nigerians of the deployment of the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) for the governorship and state assemblies elections.

THISDAY reports that INEC has admitted to facing logistics and technological challenges during the February 25 elections. The newspaper says the APC dominated the national assembly with 57 senators and 162 members of the house of representatives.
