Reports on the suspension of the visa ban imposed on Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the death of Akintola Williams, Nigeria’s first indigenous chartered accountant, dominate the front pages. 

The Punch reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may be asked to withdraw its audited annual financial reports which were released last month. The newspaper says the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its months-long visa ban on Nigerians.


The Nation reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) are counting their gains and losses at the governorship and legislative election tribunals in states. The newspaper says Tahir Mamman, minister of education, has hinted that the federal government is considering a full autonomy arrangement for universities.


The Guardian reports that aviation stakeholders have expressed cautious optimism on the resumption of Emirates Airline flight operations to Nigeria without a sustainable solution to the $800 million forex stuck in the country. The newspaper says seven persons were reportedly killed and scores injured following boundary and farmland disputes between Yache community in Yala LGA of Cross River and Tiv in Benue state.


THISDAY reports that politicians and other Nigerians are mourning the death of Akintola Williams, Nigeria’s first indigenous chartered accountant. The newspaper says Mele Kyari, group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), has held widespread consultations with oil majors and partners.


Nigerian Tribune reports that the education minister said the federal government is committed to increasing the budget meant for the education sector by 25 percent. The newspaper says the federal government has ordered a probe into the murder of Modupe Deborah Atanda, a student of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
