The arrest of Ahmed Idris, accountant-general of the federation, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N80 billion fraud dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has vowed not to extend the June 3, 2022 deadline for primaries. The newspaper says exchange rate of the country’s currency has hit N600 per dollar at the parallel market.


The Nation reports that EFCC has arrested the accountant-general of the federation over alleged N80 billion fraud. The newspaper says the supreme court will hear the appeal on section 84(12) of the electoral act.


Daily Independent says the Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted Ibrahim Magu, former acting chairman of the EFCC, to the rank of assistant inspector-general of police. The newspaper reports that Nigeria’s inflation rate has risen to 16.82 percent.
