Newspaper Headlines: Debt servicing now $112m monthly, says CBN

Reports on the country’s debt profile and the leadership positions of the 10th national assembly dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun negotiations with senators-elect eyeing the position of senate president. The newspaper says the federal government has sent foodstuffs to Sudan for stranded Nigerians.

Daily Trust reports that controversy has trailed the approval of N3.4 billion as a consultancy fee for the second runway of Abuja airport. The newspaper says Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the APC, said lawmakers-elect eyeing leadership positions in the 10th national assembly were not consulted before the decision on zoning was reached.

Daily Independent reports that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) said Nigeria’s current debt stock of N77 trillion is a calamity of the highest proportion.
