Reports on the old naira circulation and the conviction of Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has concluded plans to monitor the compliance of commercial banks to the circulation of old naira notes. The newspaper says the police have disclosed that 203 electoral offenders are facing trial in 20 states.

The Nation says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been hit by a post-election crisis as the national leadership suspended some leaders of the party. The newspaper reports that Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president, and his wife will be sentenced on May 5.

Daily Trust reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has concluded plans to go after some outgoing governors and other public officials after May 29. The newspaper says the federal government has insisted that Nigeria Air will commence operations before May 29.

The Guardian says about N3.62 billion in fraud was perpetrated through automated teller machines (ATMs), point of sales (PoS) machines, mobile and other electronic channels and cash as of the third quarter of 2022.

THISDAY reports that Festus Keyamo, spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) over the utterances of Peter Obi, flagbearer of the Labour Party, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed. The newspaper says the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) has asked the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to shelve its planned strike on the naira scarcity.
