Reports on Nigeria’s economic situation, especially the decline in government revenue, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch says Nigeria’s oil production dropped by 28 million barrels in seven months, which is threatening the federal government’s N9.37 trillion oil and gas revenue target for the year. The newspaper says Ohanaeze Ndigbo has faulted the federal government’s decision not to intervene in the trial of Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president, in the UK.

The Nation says Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, has raised the alarm over a plot by criminal elements to attack public institutions and structures across the country. The newspaper reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to refund nomination fees to aspirants who stepped down during its March 26 national convention.

Daily Independent says travellers are lamenting over the hike in cost of international flights as economy class airfare hits N1 million. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), said bad leadership is responsible for the country’s woes not 1999 constitution, the newspaper reports.
