Results of Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara as the winners of governorship elections in their states. The newspaper says the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may not raise the lending rates at the monetary policy committee meeting on Monday.

The Nation says INEC has ruled out supplementary elections in areas where thugs disrupted the process and destroyed electoral materials. The newspaper reports that the Labour Party (LP) has threatened nationwide protest over the alleged manipulation of election results.

The Guardian reports that the Lagos police command has arrested 17 suspected thugs over electoral violence in the state. The newspaper says Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu, has lost his return bid to the senate.

Daily Sun reports that there are strong indications that the huge crowd of customers at banks and automated teller machines (ATMs) may begin to ease off from today as more commercial banks expect fresh cash supplies from the CBN. The newspaper says six persons are reported missing following an attack on buses conveying INEC officials in Kogi state.

Daily Trust says the manufacturing sector contributed N946 billion to the federal government as value-added tax (VAT) and company income tax in 2022. The newspaper reports that troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) on a collation centre in Mafa LGA, the hometown of Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state.
