The move to stop the defection of aggrieved senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by President Muhammadu Buhari dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the immediate past CJN is expected to get a N2.5bn severance package from the federal government. The newspaper says aggrieved aspirants have rejected the candidates’ list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).


The Nation reports that aggrieved senators in the All Progressives Congress (APC) said governors hijacked the recently-conducted primaries to deny them return tickets. The newspaper says the senate is set to probe the administration of Ibrahim Muhammad, former chief justice of Nigeria.


Daily Independent reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan said it is time for the country to implement the 2014 national conference report. The newspaper says the national assembly is set to amend the Electoral Act, 2022 to remedy weaknesses.


THISDAY says Kabiru Masari, the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declared his academic certificates missing. The newspaper reports that the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has revoked the certificates of registration of Niger Insurance Plc and Standard Alliance Plc.


Daily Sun says 15 people are feared killed and others missing in another Ebonyi-Benue community dispute. Rauf Olaniyan, Oyo deputy governor, has taken legal action against the state house of assembly over the impeachment process against him, the newspaper reports.
