Reports on the meeting between Bola Tinubu, president-elect, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Nigerians spent about $3bn on foreign healthcare-related services from 2020 to 2022. The newspaper says the federal government has advised the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu to strengthen anti-corruption agencies.


Daily Trust reports that Tinubu met with Kwankwaso and Muhammadu Sanusi II, former Emir of Kano, in France. The newspaper says some staff of the United States embassy in Nigeria have been shot dead in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state.


Daily Independent reports that the senate has approved independent candidacy in presidential, governorship, national, state assemblies, and LGA elections. The newspaper says Chukwuma Soludo, former governor of Anambra, has accused the federal government of plunging Nigeria into inflation with reckless borrowings.


THISDAY reports that Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member-elect of the house of representatives, brokered the meeting between Tinubu and Kwankwaso. The newspaper says the presidency said rising inflation is not peculiar to Nigeria.


Vanguard reports that the federal government incurred a deficit spending of N36.8 trillion in eight years under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2022. The newspaper says the court has ordered the remand of Seun Kuti, Afrobeat singer, over alleged assault of a policeman.
