Reactions to the victory of Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the Osun governorship election dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers.

The Nation reports that Gboyega Oyetola, incumbent governor of Osun, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is studying the results of the state governorship election, which was won by the PDP. The newspaper says the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is set to auction uncleared imported vehicles in Lagos.

The Punch reports that members of the Osun APC loyal to Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, said Oyetola’s fight with the minister cost him re-election. The newspaper says 101 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Nigeria in 2022 — the highest in five years
