The uncertainty over the February 26 national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the APC is battling to resolve the crisis caused by its move to choose its national working committee members by consensus. The newspaper says the national executive council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will meet with the federal government this week.

The Nation says Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum, has blamed inspection failure for the circulation of off-spec petrol, which has led to petrol scarcity in the country. The newspaper says APC governors will meet today over a new date for the party’s national convention.

The Guardian says Nigerian airlines are struggling with the problems of low market penetration and depleted fleet. The newspaper says the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised the alarm over circulation of dangerous animal hides and skins, popularly known as ‘ponmo’ in Lagos.

The Nigerian Tribune says there is uncertainty over APC delegates’ list for the February 26 national convention. Bola Tinubu, an APC chieftain, has said no amount of intimidation can stop his 2023 presidential bid, the newspaper reports.

Daily Independent says the price of aviation fuel has soared to N420 per litre, leading to a 100 percent hike in airline fares. The newspaper reports that Buhari has approved the decision of the APC caretaker committee to postpone the party’s national convention by a minimum of two weeks.
