The move by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to increase the cash withdrawal limit to N500,000 and N5 million for individuals and corporate entities, respectively, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that Nigerians face a bleak Christmas as fuel scarcity bites harder. The federal government has disclosed it will not be able to complete the narrow-gauge eastern railway corridor before President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office in May 2023, the newspaper reports.


The Nation says the CBN has raised the weekly cash withdrawal limit to N500,000. The newspaper says Buhari has asked the national assembly to approve his request for a cash advance of N1 trillion to the federal government by the CBN.

THISDAY says the move by the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, was raised in the British House of Lords on Wednesday. The newspaper reports that Buhari said he is ready to campaign for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and other candidates of the party.
