The victory of Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, at the presidential primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

Sunday Punch reports that Atiku Abubakar clinched the PDP presidential ticket. The newspaper says Nigerian politicians are holding onto power by ensuring their children have a shot at elective positions.

The Nation says Salihu Lukman, national vice-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the party, of running the party as a sole administrator.

Daily Independent reports that at least 31 people died in a stampede during a church event in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. The newspaper says today marks the seventh anniversary of the Buhari administration.

The Guardian reports that Nigerians are lamenting over insecurity and poor governance being experienced under the Buhari administration. THISDAY says the CBN has asked commercial banks to support Nigerian firms to expand their foreign exchange earnings for economic growth. The newspaper reports that Atiku has promised to unite the country, which he said, has been divided by the APC-led administration.
