Omobola Johnson, a former minister of communication technology, has commended personnel of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service for putting out the fire that gutted a plastic factory on Saturday morning.
The fire broke out inside Mega Plastic, a petrochemical plant in the Ilupeju area of Lagos.
Adeseye Magaret, director of the state rescue service, said the fire was swiftly contained.
She added that there were no injuries or fatalities from the incident.
Reacting to the development, Johnson said: “Today, there was a raging fire in a plastics factory next to my brother in law’s printing press”.
“I want to commend the LASG fire service…they worked relentlessly to put the fire out….firemen were exhausted but kept on working….tax payers money at work,” she wrote on her X page.
There has been a spate of fire incidents in Lagos in recent times.
On September 6, fire gutted a section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
On September 21, five shops and the Hotel Ibis Royale along airport road, Ajao estate in Isolo, were razed by fire.
Four days ago, the service rescued two people from another fire incident that occurred at Victory Bay, Ikota housing estate in the Ajah area of the state.
The service had reported that the two male adults rescued sustained varying degrees of burns.
