The Delta state governorship tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Ovie Omo-Agege, former deputy senate president, challenging the election of Sheriff Oborevwori as governor of the state.
In the judgment delivered on Friday, a three-member tribunal headed by Chibuzo Ahuchaogu dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for lacking in merit.
The tribunal held that the issues raised were speculative since the petitioners failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and corrupt practices beyond a reasonable doubt.
Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Omo-Agege in the March 18 governorship election.
The PDP candidate polled 360, 234 votes while Omo-Agege secured 240, 229 votes.
